ABOUT ME
My name is Maryam McConville and I am a therapeutic counsellor and an integrative child and adolescent psychotherapist.
I have more than 25 years of experience working with families, children and young people in a variety of settings. I have previously worked as a child and family social worker as well as teaching on social work, counselling and psychology courses. I have also worked as a project manager, counsellor and trauma specialist for a mental health charity.
Since 2008 I have been employed by the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS, Manchester NHS trust) and currently, I am a therapeutic lead for a specialist fostering team offering consultation, training and therapy.
I offer external supervision to a variety of professionals including students, mental health practitioners, teachers and therapists. I can provide consultation and training on a variety of subjects including trauma informed practices, looked after children, therapeutic parenting and a range of other related issues and subject areas. I have a post-graduate certificate in supervision and my work is informed by Theraplay and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
I am a member of the British Association of Counsellor and Psychotherapists (BACP) and I abide by the rules of its Ethical Framework and Professional Conduct Procedure.
I am also a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have a current DBS police check.
